Caledonian Experience Cricket Club
Player Roster 2007-08 Season
Jason Tibbotts - Captain of club and one of the founding players. Rallies the troops when needed, generally from the slips! Is coming back from injury so will be looking to minimise movement around the field and between the stumps. Hits a solid ball, which is lucky as he isn't known for his quick singles!
Rikkie Tibbotts - Is counted upon to extact inswing out of any bowling conditions. Is the wicket keepers nemisis for his wides down leg side but more often than not will get the odd one right and knock the top off top orders. Can also play the pull shot with the best of them, in fact some believe Ricky Ponting rang Ricky the other day to ask him for a few pointers!
Ross MacAskill - Brings experience (haha) to the team from his exploits in Dunedin senior cricket. Has a part time job as the team statistician. Ross generally toils away in to the wind with the new ball, and shores up the wonky top order from the number 2 or 3 position.
Andrew (AHP) MacDonald - The team salesman. AHP also sets the example to the boys in terms of personal styling. Voted last years "best dressed" he continues to set the dress standards at Mole nights and games (fingers crossed the brown ringers will be back again this season!).
Loz Shatford- One of the work horses of the Experience middle order. Loz is perhaps the most consistent performers in the team, with both bat and ball. He has recently become president of the Experience Youth Development Academy and will be working hard to foster the future of the club!
Bede Anisy- Bede is our Mr Reliable. You can bet the house on him being there week in week out, and most weeks rattles up a couple of fill ins too, hence his recent appointment as Experience Recruitment Officer. Bede is a demon patrolling the covers......batsmen take quick singles at their peril!
Ben Walsh - If Benny ever actually turns up hes probably one of the best players in the team! Ben is extremely sharp in the field - he made the backward point region his own last year, effecting several run outs and a couple of stunning catches. A natural talent and very athletic also- TURN UP ON TIME!!
Isaac Arapai - Pies is our rock behind the stumps. If Pies is one or two minutes late we usually just look for him at the local fish and chip shop and Bingo! Famous for playing hung over, we are just waiting for the day he plays sober, and when he does.....look out!
Cam McPherson - Cam came to the club predominantly as a batsman, but quickly established himself as more of a bowler. He often comes on 1st change and rips through middle orders like nobodys business. The only squad member with a Masters degree, Cam is delegated tasks such as calculating run rates and counting the balls in the over.
Larry Hau - We didn't see much of Laz last season, but we hold high hopes this year. One of the most enthusiastic members of the squad, Laz is often seen jogging around the boundary just to quench his thirst for physical activity.
Paddy Enwright - Paddy kindly volunteers to test products from Herbal Heaven and reports back to us each Saturday as to their effects (if he makes it out of bed, that is). Paddy is always keen to take the shine off the new ball for the stoke makers coming in after him, and sometimes even makes a few runs in the process!
Charlie (Just what is your last name Charlie?) - Never short of a "your mama" joke, Charlie is the source of much joking, and together with Paddy, forms a formidible comedic pairing.
Jimmy Burrito - We haven't seen much of Jimmy yet. Although he owns whites and a wide brimmed hat so can't be too bad. His Warne-like leg breaks will bamboozle any batsman, and he should be good for a few sixes over cow corner every now and then.
Grant Straker - One of last seasons discoveries, Grant is a talent with bat and ball. We look foward to him destroying bowling attacks and sending errant bowlers to all corners of the park. A true stroke maker.
